Blindness Doesn’t Define Their Future | Finley Fears & fearlessHOPE

At 15 years old, Finley Fears has undergone 29 eye surgeries and recently experienced significant additional vision loss. But her story—and the stories of so many children like her—extends far beyond blindness.

For Blindness Awareness Month, Dallas Fears shares a special episode highlighting the children and families of fearlessHOPE, an organization she and her husband, Chris, founded in 2015. This time, we’re hearing directly from the children themselves. As the new face of fearlessHOPE, Finley has begun reconnecting with children who have been part of the organization for years.

Through their conversations, we hear about their experiences growing up blind or visually impaired, the things they’ve accomplished, and the futures they’re working toward.

Dallas also shares an emotional update about Finley’s recent medical challenges at Duke and the changes in her vision. You’ll hear Finley’s perspective through her recent NBC 5 interview as she continues navigating life with courage, honesty, and faith.

In this episode:

  • The story behind fearlessHOPE and why it was founded Finley’s new role helping other children share their stories
  • Personal interviews with children who are blind or visually impaired
  • Growing up with vision loss and developing independence
  • Dallas’s update on Finley’s recent medical journey
  • Finley’s NBC 5 interview
  • Why awareness, accessibility, and community matter

This episode is a celebration of the children behind fearlessHOPE—their voices, their accomplishments, and the possibilities ahead of them. Our hope is that you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of blindness and a renewed appreciation for the importance of seeing people beyond their circumstances.
